Workshop Information

An important component of ensuring that the profound impact that orthotic therapy may have in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain has clearly been for Artisan Orthotic Lab to take an active role in providing educational resources for Podiatrists to enable them to keep abreast of an evolving therapy.

To that end we have provided resource materials in newsletters to our existing clients as well as providing  practical workshops in various aspects of orthotic therapy. We took on the role of providing education on the practical side of therapy rather than on the theoretical issues. See below for an outline of existing workshops available from Artisan. If you would like any of the workshops listed below to be presented in your area, please contact Artisan:  artisan@westnet.com.au

Shane Toohey has been a Podiatrist in private practice in Perth since graduating in 1980. He upgraded to a B.Sc(Podiatry) in 1994. Shane has developed extensive skills and expertise with acupuncture and used this within his Podiatry practice since completing aPostgraduate Diploma in Acupuncture in 1991 through the International College of Acupuncture and the Australian Institute of Holistic Medicine. He is a current member of the Acupuncture Association of Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Shane has also been a part-time Lecture in the Podiatry Department of Curtin University from 1994 until 2006.

Further, in the knowledge that orthotic therapy, is often but one of the pieces in the puzzle that is used in the treatment of chronic pain, we have also facilitated workshops in other adjunctive modalities used. Full details of many of these workshops can be found at www.musmed.com.au

A quote from Dr. Howard Dananberg (from a lecture in London 2007 for Vasyli).

"I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Conneely from Australia who is one of the best manipulators I have ever met, he is amazing with the amount of force, like (clicks fingers), like you almost don't feel it, incredible."

Dr Paul Conneely has been inspirational in his committment to the perfection of hands on skills in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain. He has been the strongest advocate of the primary role of improved foot function in the resolution of these problems. He is very keen to pass on the skills he has developed over many years.
